Small-Batch Bags made by one woman, on an antique Singer machine, for your Knitting, Crochet, or other projects
A bag stitched together for you! This listing is for the FearLESS Living Fund Fundraiser Limited Edition bag!
This is a very special fabric, and a very special fundraiser. Diane fought cancer for a long time, and her entire family was an amazing support for her during her fight. Her daughter is Jennifer Lassonde from the Down Cellar Studio podcast, and she came up with the idea of doing a fundraiser during her mom’s birthday month (February - although this listing is up all year) to allow us all to join in to celebrate Diane’s birthday, and to support her FearLESS Living Fund!
Diane left us in January 2025, and she will be very much missed by everyone who knew her. However, her memory lives on with the FearLESS Living Fund, and I am honored to offer bags made from this fabric in her memory. Donations will be made in a continuing basis, for as long as there is interest in this print and I will update the total donated in this listing as donations are made. You can also order the print from my shop on Spoonflower here - and I will be donating any profits made from sales of this print at Spoonflower to the Fund.
I will be donating 30% of sales of this bag to the FearLESS Living Fund - both of us will report the amount once the dust settles and I have all orders finalized!
Donation Made March 5, 2025: $194.70 (this is 30% of sales to date from original listing to March 5, 2025)
Jennifer and Diane both had final say in this print, and I am happy to say that Diane was able to receive a bag in December 2024 which she loved very much!! I have included a photo of her with her bag in this listing with Jen's permission <3
Limited edition prints are very...well, limited. ;) Each wedge bag has a special Limited Edition tag (box bag tags are, unfortunately, not available yet). Prints are a surprise (though the listing artwork usually is a hint to the theme) and these bags will begin shipping out end of February/beginning of March 2025 depending on how long it takes my printing company to get the fabric to me. If you order other bags or items along with this listing, they will all ship together with your club shipment.
These prints will only be here for a limited time so grab them while you can!
Bag sizes are as follows:
Regular Box Bag: 7 1/2 inches long, 4 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall - large enough to hold a sock project or a spindle. Handles are long enough to fit over your wrist.
Large Box Bag: 12″ long, 4″ high and 6″ wide – just the right size to hold a larger project or a spindle
Regular Wedge Bag: This size has been discontinued
Tall Wedge: 11" wide, 10" tall and 4" wide at the bottom. This size allows for you to fold open the top of your bag while you're working on your project, and is a bit more roomy for a shawl, hat, heavy socks or larger accessories.
Large Wedge: 15" wide, 10" tall and 4" wide at the bottom. This size will easily fit a sweater-in progress or (very) large shawl
Gigantic TWSS (That's What She Said) Wedge: Approximately 19" long, 14" high and 5" wide at the bottom. This size is perfect to tote an afghan in progress, the biggest of big sweaters, most of what you'd stash under your kitchen sink, or an average sized toddler (not kidding, it really is that big!). I have had customers put 15 skeins of worsted weight yarn in one of these babies. Get ready to say 'Whoa, that's ...big.' when you open your package!
Spindle Bag: One Size: 12.5″ long, 3.5″ wide, 3.5″ tall. Good for most drop spindles, and includes a loop inside on the handle end for you to loop your spindle hook into.
Bucket Bag: Currently one size available: 7″ tall, 4.5″ wide and 3.5″ deep. Handle is a snap closure which makes it very versatile. SbJL is home of the ORIGINAL bucket bag! Often imitated but never duplicated. ;o) You can read a tutorial on the original usage of this bag here – they’ve since morphed into a knitting bag as well as spinning!
All bags are lined with quality coordinating fabric and interfaced. Boxed corners and pull tabs are double stitched for durability.
Each zipper closure bag includes a color-coordinated zipper pull made of coordinating swarovski crystals and a silver bee - a signature addition to all Stitched by JessaLu bags.
All items are made on an antique Singer sewing machine in a smoke-less and dog-friendly home (though she isn't allowed in the sewing room). Please convo me if you have any questions!
Stitched by JessaLu was founded in 2008 by me, JessaLu, when I was incredibly burned out in my career path at the time and I felt that I needed to have a more creative outlet to make an income. When I was young, my grandmother taught me to sew and gave me the nickname JessaLu - so I decided that I would give a nod to her and the foundation she helped lay which grew into SbJL. I use a bee in my logo because it is believed that bees help pass messages to those who have passed on, and I like to think that every bag that goes on to live at a new home sends a little message to her that I am using the tools she taught me, and am grateful to her for them.
SbJL has grown to offer accessories as well as Project Bags, and I work to source the items that are not made by me, to be sure that they are either designed by women artists, or distributed by women owned businesses. Because I believe that women need to lift each other up.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the web - I hope you will find a new cozy home for your project here. ~j
